Major Micklewhite was an officer in the Prince of Wales Own Volunteers during the early stages of the Waterloo campaign in Sharpe's Waterloo. He was the battalion's junior major, serving under Joseph Ford and Edwin Vine.

Micklewhite was present at the Battle of Quatres Bras, where, like the rest of the battalion's senior officers, he seemed uncomfortable with Richard Sharpe's presence. When their brigade came under attack from French cavalry, Micklewhite suggested to Ford that they form square but Ford hesitated until it was too late and Sharpe gave the order to run for the cover of the trees instead. Micklewhite intercepted a Hussar who was aiming for the colour party. Although the move allowed Sharpe to get the colours to safety, the Hussar killed Micklewhite, slicing him through the throat with his sabre. Peter D'Alembord was promoted to major as his replacement.

Trivia[]

Micklewhite is completely absent from Sharpe's Waterloo (TV Movie), in which the only named Prince of Wales Own Volunteers officers are Ford and Harry Price.
